Grant Fagerheim
President and CEO, Whitecap Resources Inc.

  Whitecap is the 7^th largest Canadian oil and gas producer and 5^th largest Canadian natural gas producer. The company has the largest land position in the Alberta Montney and Duvernay, with current production of ~365,000 boe/d and a 2025 capital expenditure budget of $2B. 

  Join us for a fire side chat with Grant Fagerheim as we discuss his experience in creating the successful business combination and some of the challenges he faced at different stages of the transaction.  We will hear from Grant on his vision and strategy for the proforma entity and the milestones Whitecap has achieved during the integration process of the Veren asset base. 

  Grant Fagerheim is President and Chief Executive Officer of Whitecap Resources Inc., a position he has held since it was founded in 2009. Aside from Whitecap Resources, Mr. Fagerheim also founded Kereco Energy Ltd. (Cadence), Ketch Resources Ltd., and Ketch Energy Ltd. He was appointed to the board of The Fraser Institute in January, 2020. He has worked in both the Canadian upstream and downstream segments of the energy industry. His past directorships include both public and private energy producing and service companies.

  Mr. Fagerheim is an active member in the community in both volunteer and charity roles and has a passion for combining academics with athletics. He is a past director of the Hockey Canada Foundation and has served as Chairman of the Edge School for Athletes in Calgary. In recognition for his contributions to Canada, Mr. Fagerheim was awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012, the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medal in 2022 (Alberta) and the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medal in 2023 (Saskatchewan). He was inducted into the Saskatchewan Oil & Gas Hall of Fame in 2017 and was named Saskatchewan Oil Person of the Year in 2021.

Rob Morgan brings over 35 years of leadership in the oil & gas industry, with deep expertise in Canadian energy industry. Prior to joining the AER in 2025, he led Strathcona Resources as President & CEO. His previous roles include senior executive positions at Cona Resources, Crew Energy, Harvest Operations, and more. Rob holds a Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Saskatchewan.

John Jeffrey serves as the Chief Executive Officer and a Director of Saturn Oil & Gas Inc., which has been recognized as one of Canada’s fastest growing companies for the past several years. John’s extensive experience in financial management and operations has enabled him to successfully execute large engineering and environmental projects. Previously, he held the position of Area Finance Manager for a Fortune 500 engineering consulting firm in Canada.

John was also a founder and the CFO of Axiom Group, a geological and engineering consulting company that drilled over 800 wells in western Canada. He is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan with an MBA majoring in Finance.

Brian is a Managing Director with CIBC Capital Markets Investment Banking, where he leads coverage of Canadian oil and gas producers. He advises clients on mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt financings, and a range of other capital markets advisory mandates. His select advisory experience includes ARC Resources’ acquisition of Seven Generations; Hammerhead Resources’ go-public SPAC merger and subsequent sale to Veren; Baytex Energy’s acquisition of Ranger Oil; Peyto Exploration’s acquisition of Repsol Energy Canada; Ridgeback Resources’ sale to Saturn; and Vermilion Energy’s acquisition of Leucrotta Exploration.

Prior to joining CIBC, Brian worked with a Canadian private credit capital provider focused on principal investing in upstream oil and gas, energy infrastructure, senior secured and unsecured credit, preferred equity and joint venture structures. Brian also serves on the Board of Directors of Parks Foundation Calgary.

Prior to rejoining CIBC, he held extensive experience as a principal investor in public and private equity, including roles at CPP Investments and one of Canada’s largest family offices.

His select advisory experience includes Blackstone’s (CPPIB) acquisition of Advarra; ARC Resources’ acquisition of Seven Generations; Brookfield’s strategic investment in Superior Plus; and Baytex Energy’s acquisition of Raging River.

Chelsea Hunter, Partner
Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP

Chelsea Hunter is a partner in the securities group at Blakes. Her primary focus is advising public and private companies on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance matters, debt and equity financings, continuous disclosure and securities law compliance.
Chelsea’s experience includes representing both private and publicly traded issuers listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX), the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and the TSX Venture Exchange. In addition to advising on corporate commercial matters, she has represented issuers and underwriters in public and private offerings of equity and debt and has acted on behalf of both purchasers and vendors in a variety of M&A transactions. 
Prior to joining Blakes, Chelsea completed a year-long secondment with a TSX-listed major Canadian transportation and midstream service provider, where she advised on corporate finance, corporate governance, continuous disclosure, and general commercial and contract matters.

Mark Oberstoetter is based in Calgary where he manages a team of 25 expert analysts covering the upstream industries across Canada and the United States. He has extensively covered deepwater, oil sands and unconventional sectors including asset valuation work and competitive benchmarking.

Mark joined Wood Mackenzie in 2009, moved from Houston to Calgary in 2013 and has been a co-President of our 50-employee Calgary office since 2018. A frequent conference presenter, he has authored 70+ research notes and has been quoted in publications including the Economist, Wall Street Journal and Financial Times. Mark’s recent work has included corporate strategy consulting, diluent market studies, helping governments assess royalty structures, and providing detailed competitiveness benchmark outlooks for assets, plays and regions.

Prior to joining Wood Mackenzie, Mark worked at Kenmont Capital Partners (an energy-focused hedge fund), Sanders Morris Harris Investment Bank and the Dallas auditing arm of KPMG.
