Spotlight on Canada’s Energy Sector:
Implications of Recent Changes to Canada’s Competition Act and Investment Canada Act for Transactions

Regulatory reviews under the Competition Act and Investment Canada Act can make or break a deal in the Canadian energy industry. Recent changes to legislation and government policy are opening the door to some sources of foreign investment that have been seen as riskier in recent years, while creating headwinds for other transactions where the regulatory process is becoming more complex. This shifting landscape makes it more essential for in-house counsel and dealmakers to understand the risks associated with competition and foreign investment approvals, and how they factor into overall transaction planning. Join us for an informative discussion with Cam Proctor, Cassie Brown, and Robel Sahlu from the Calgary office of Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP, which will explore these topics and engage with audience members to provide practical takeaways for businesses.
