The Black Box: Alberta's Overhauled Liability Management System

Featuring Guest Speakers:

Carolyn Wright & Mike Henry from Burnet, Duckworth and Palmer LLP

Liability management is an increasingly important driver in the design and transactability of O&G acquisitions and divestments. The liability landscape has once again shifted following the release of the Alberta Energy Regulator’s (AER) Directive 088: Licensee Life-Cycle Management.   Directive 088 has introduced a new regulatory regime for liability management in the Alberta oil and gas industry, centered around the holistic "Licensee Capability Assessment".  This new regime represents a stricter approach to liability management, and has introduced a great deal of uncertainty in the license transfer process.   Please join us for an interactive discussion, hosted by Burnet, Duckworth & Palmer LLP, to review what has changed and their perspectives on how to navigate these new challenges in our transaction strategies.

In addition, XI Technologies will augment this presentation with insights and visuals to give a real world view into assessing a company or property from a liability perspective.  XI will break down the guides in Manual 23 and introduce some workflows to reduce uncertainty and provide some clarity when making A&D decisions.
